According to Ian Keiner (Peep This Out!), the “New Whopper” is slowly rolling out this week without the fanfare normally associated with a “new and improved” product launch.
The upgraded Whopper sandwich features a “homestyle” beef patty that’s irregularly shaped and not round like a traditional Whopper patty. Ian also reports the upgraded Whopper is seasoned for the first time with salt & pepper – not normal practice for the Whopper build.
While the recipe upgrade appears minor at first glance, any change could result in consumer backlash. New Coke immediately comes to mind as a cautionary tale against messing too extensively with an iconic brand/product.
